The soundtrack of the wonderful play Love, Janis has been released (or will be next Tuesday). Love, Janis is based on the book (of the same name) by her sister Laura from the letters that Janis Joplin wrote home, and the book is fascinating, the play is fantastic. Better than the usual soundtrack album, this one doles not feature the singers from the play (Cindy Richardson and Andra Mitrovich, two singers alternate nights because of the vocal stress), as wonderful as they are - this album features actual Janis tracks of the songs in the play, with actress Catherine Curtin reading the letters, as she does in the play. The link to order, given to me by Michael Joplin, Janis' brother, is: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005EBIN/o/qid%3D989102549/sr%3D8-1/ref%3Daps%5Fsr%5Fpm%5F1%5F1/103-1303962-2130218 I believe the play has opened or is opening in NYC, and it is so worth seeing! Anyway, I know its sounds all braggy to say that I got the link from Janis' brother, but I did... part of my family connections to the famous, I once got a Chuck Mitchell 45 from his mother and I have done my Aretha Franklin impressions for her sister Erma, in a dorm room, dancing on a bed, at Western Michigan University. (Don't ask about the last... it was just one of those wild nights at a church convention in Kalamazoo.) I may not know anyone actually famous, but I have a knack for connecting with kin now and again. Annyway, this was just to share the Janis stuff and link. (the Rev) Vince
