I find it almost impossible to say which period of Joni's life produced the
best work, simply because she's changed styles and influences so many times.
How can you compare STAS and DJRD, for example? Two pieces of work, which
although both brilliant (that kind of goes without saying), are at opposite
ends of the spectrum, as far as I'm concerned.
If her style (for want of a better word) had stayed the same throughout her
career, it would be far easier to select two or three albums as her best.
But I find trying to compare all of them a pretty impossible, and to be
honest, fruitless task.
Let's just admit that they're all great, and move on! And for the record, I
don't have a favourite period, since my three favourite albums (today, that
is) are HOSL, NRH and TTT (with Blue, FTR and WTRF close behind). So there.
