Greetings everybody from a new JMDler.
I discovered Joni in 76 with Hejira and Strange Boy seemed to talk about me in
those adolescent years.
When Mingus came out I was heavily into jazz and had just met a personal
friend of Mingus.
I was high on love when WTRF came out.
When I first heard Dog Eat Dog I had just received my first hard knocks from
corporate america.
Somehow there has been a link between the album that was just released and my
emotional state of mind ever since Hejira.
Am I crazy or does anybody else feel this way?
Also, living in Paris I don't have any unofficial Joni to trade. However, I
do have an EXTENSIVE collection of bootlegs (CDs+ NTSC videos + boots) from:
Neil Young, CSN, Ry Cooder, Little Village, Jimi, Dead, Garcia, Stones, Dylan,
etc.
I'm sure I could please the serious collector of these artists.
Looking to trade for all the Joni trees, + anything by Ry Cooder/Little
Village, videos of John Martyn, Family, Kevin Eubanks.
Finally, for all of you who can't get enough of Joni, check out Sara K. She's
the more "Joni--like" artist I know. That's just her own style, she's not
imitating Joni or being "influenced". She's got 3-4 albums out. Far behind
there's the early Joan Armatrading.
Amazing how many female singers have come out in recent years who are
"Joni-influenced" to put it midly.
Very few have the real substance behind the veneer in my opinion.
Does anybody know of a Ry Cooder web site?
PS: In France they do shave their armpits. However, In France they Piss on
Main Street, I see it everyday.
