Probably exactly what the rest of Joni's audience
thought at the time ... at least initially:

And as long as we're in confession mode, I'll confess
that "Mingus" is the only Joni album I still have only
on vinyl, having preferred to drop coin on the S&L CD,
since I like all the Mingus performances on it much
better than the studio versions. I should also
confess that my copy of "Mingus" is in pretty darned
good shape ... oh boy!
