At my night job, one of my co-workers came up and said, "Are you actually
whistling a Beatles song?"
I said, "Sure. Why not? Is there anything *better* in popular music that I
should be whistling?"
"No, not at all!" he said.
"Wait a minute, Jason; you're a songwriter. Have you ever heard about the
famous Paul McCartney song called "Scrambled Egg"?
He was puzzled. "Huh? 'Scrambled Egg'?"
"Yeah," sez I. "It was about 1965 and McCartney woke up one morning with
this tune in his head. He hummed it. He found it at the piano but he
couldn't place it. He asked around over a period of days. 'Is this Fats
Domino? It sounds like a piano song. I don't remember the words but the
syllables fit like this:
Scrambled egg,
do da do da do ta
dum dee dummmmmmm.'
No one had heard it before. He was driving everyone crazy trying to figure
out what this song was and eventually someone just blurted out, "Paul, it's
**YOURS**!"
---
After he worked out some lyrics, "Scrambled Egg" went sorta like this:
"Scrambled egg, all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe...
in scrambled egg......"
All the best,
