<<even the cat is out partying.  Sad but true.>>

Which reminds me of the GREAT song by Stan Ridgway (ex-Wall of Voodoo) called "Walking 
Home Alone", which features the line "even the cat she left me with is going out with 
someone else".

But the best phrase in the song in my mind is:

"Ain't it funny how one afternoon,
can make two people stop and say
that all that time they spent together
Didn't really mean that much anyway"...

It's very Waits-like in it's descriptiveness and very Hejira-like in the fact that one 
great line just leads to another!
