I never connected "Stratford-On-Guy" to TFT, I'll give it a re-listen. I *also* never
got EIG as a song by song answer to "Exile on Main Street"...(cue Jason for some
illumination on this question)...on the whole, EIG IS a great record, if only to hear
"I'll fuck you til your dick is blue"...now THERE'S a unique lyric! :~D
As for Liz being the best s-s of the 90's, that's a different issue. I think she has
lots of potential. Jeff Buckley was better, but then again he didn't make it OUT OF
the 90's. :~(
I guess in retrospect the 90's was not a landmark decade for singer-songwriters,
although I feel like I'll have to eat crow for that statement...seems like most of the
best 90's writers were in bands.
