1) CALLING ON JONI SINGERS:

Hello,

In all of France on June 21 anybody who can hold an instrument will be out in
the street playing for France's 20th Fjte de la Musique. Thanks to Howard
Wright and his wonderful transcription, I can close our rock/blues concert
with a perfect rendition of WOODSTOCK (Shadows & Light version) with just
guitar and a light sax solo. Anybody who's in Paris on that day is warmly
invited to 28 rue Sedaine, 75011 in the evening, to sing along to WOODSTOCK.

2) JONI'S SIGHTING

For years when I was living in L.A. I used to look around for Joni wherever I
went. I even came up to a lady in a museum line thinking it was her. Then I
dated this French woman who was a perfect lookalike, until she found out...
It's great to fulfill a fantasy but that's another story.

Back to our story: It was an ordinary weekday evening around 1987. Just
before 10 pm the phone rang. It was my friend Efrem, the luckiest SOB I know
but a great guy, whom I had just recently turned on to Joni's music, saying:
"I'm in this restaurant on Montana ave in Santa Monica. There's this woman
there, I think it's Joni, she smiled at me"
I didn't exactly live close but I took a freeway to a train, and a train to a
taxi.....
Anyway she was there. Funny but as soon as I walked in she became aware of a
fan's presence disturbing her peaceful meal.
She greeted me, shook my hand and introduced me to her companion. I asked if
I could speak with her after her dinner was over and said I would wait
outside. In the meantime she disappeared the back door.
What a lesson in humility after L.A.'s lesson in survival.
Not a happy ending but how often does that happen anyway?
Now the moral of the story is: I turned Efrem on to Joni and that was the
reward. So spread the word.
