I attended the US premier of the Nick Drake documentary last night and I
found it extremely well done and deeply moving. There looked to be about 60
or 70 people in attendance. I don't know that I can say much more about it
other than to definately go see it if it comes to your town. There was some
footage included from Burma of the family at the beach when Nick must have
been 3 or 4 years old. Also, at one point in the film, Nick's sister,
Gabriella, played a tape recording of a song Nick's mother had written, and
hearing it, I could tell that she had definately had an influence on his
unique style.
In a way, the film was quite haunting and captivating and made his death
seem all the more tragic. Though I found it comforting as well.
