Hey Bob,
Sounds like a great show! I've never heard the War on Zevon quip, but can easily
imagine it and it makes me, I have to admit, LOL!
When I saw him in April he did "Crawl Back" and ended up snarling like some horrid
monster in pain, and right after that he sang "King of Bohemia", a lullaby to his
daughter, and I was thoroughly captured by both, and so impressed that he could be
completely genuine in such different types of songs. Plus his guitar
playing blows me away. The first time I saw him I couldn't believe that one person was
making all those sounds, so gracefully and seemingly so easily, and singing too, and
being charming on top of that. What a guy! Most of that energy is lost in his studio
recordings, which is really too bad. A cd of his Mock Tudor tour
is going to be available soon through his website so some of that performing energy
can be experienced again (probably not the scathing but very funny song about Kenny G
though). I'll let you know when it's available if you're interested.
