<<I think Wild Things Run Fast is a very significant album in Joni's output. It's the
first studio album after Mingus. >>
I was one of the folks she lost with Mingus. Didn't buy it, didn't care to hear it. I
was in my early 20's, and it just wasn't where I was at at the time. Of course, I have
since redressed that wrong! ;~)
And I give a BIG thumbs up to WTRF. Of course, it smacks of Joni attempting to throw
her beret back in the commercial arena. Getting Lionel Ritchie, who was HUGE at the
time with the #1 album "Dancing On The Ceiling" to throw in a line on "Flat Tires" was
gratuitous but it didn't stop me from enjoying the song.
It's also noteworthy that in addition to the commercial sound of this record, she
proceeded to embark on the longest tour of her career, from Feb '83 to July covering
the entire globe!
There were three records I listened to almost every day during this period, Michael
Jackson's "Thriller", Willie Nelson's "Stardust", and WTRF.
I love what Chris said...you know you're gonna get it, so get it now! :~)
