Alison,
I believe David is coming to the Bottom Line soon. Yes- (checking)- his Web
site says Saturday, July 7. (I do so wish I could go to see shows at the
Bottom Line. That would be tres cool!)
You know, about Wilcox album recommendations, I do agree that "How Did You
Find Me Here" is certainly one of the best, and it was the first one that I
bought and heard, based on a friend's recommendation, about four years ago.
"Language of the Heart" remains perhaps my favorite song and performance of
his. (By the way, not to give away too much, but he performs both "Language"
and "How did you find me here" on the latest concert set. The latter is one
of the closers.)
Of course, when I listen to "Hardware" I just think that it was so nicely
packaged and sequenced. It has a couple of his stories included, which I
think are often as entertaining and meaningful as his songs. (This is a
truly soulful man we are talking about.) It's funny (Mango!), heart-breaking
("For Real"), dramatic (that long story about Johnny's Camaro), and even
funnier (the hidden track send-up of "Eye of the Hurricane").
"another giant leap for women everywhere..."
Geez, you're right! Mary shouldn't have to market herself that way. At
least the music on the CD sounds truly like her. The marketing angle seems
to end with the title and the photos.

steve, i LOVE david wilcox. i am always amazed when
people don't know him, he's been around for so long. i
always assume that people are led to other
"contemporary" folk artists (i.e. jonatha, john gorka,
patty larkin, etc.) through their love of joni... of
course some people come to joni through jazz or i
don't know, a million other routes, or find
contemporary folk boring and repetitive... but i
digress...
he is an incredible songwriter, guitarist, etc. his
voice is like butter. it's very rich and emotive and
so lovely to listen to.

i would differ here by recommending "how did you find
me here" as a first buy. it's some of his best
songwriting, i think. "big horizon" is another
FANTASTIC recording from start to finish.

i'm glad to hear this, too, i was just asking bob if
he had heard it. (all inquiries herewith must pass
through the slut first, you see).
i'm a big mary fan, who's very-made-up and glamourized
face has been plastered all over new york city lately)
she has apparently decided that sex will help her sell
some more records, losing quite a bit of weight and
spending some time in a stylists chair.
another giant leap for women everywhere...
