"Well personally I don't care much for Prince, I've never been able to

>understand why anyone would consider Madonna a major talent and I

>don't know much about Peter Gabriel"

all of the aforementioned artists are devotees to Miss Mitchell, and carry
with them some lesson learned from her work........And in my belief, they are
all very talented people in many different ways.

We all know Prince holds Joni in very high regard.........Prince pays tribute
to "Help Me" in "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" on "SIGN O THE
TIMES".......not just there though......His B-Side "God" is a complete rip on
"Shadows And Light"........

Madonna has openly admitted to being a huge Joni fan as a teenager: "Court
and Spark was my bible for an entire year!" There was even a Rolling Stone
article which documented that Madonna had jumped over several booths in a
restaurant while wearing a huge gown to chat with Joni following the 98'
Oscars. Her song "Promise To Try" off of her album "LIKE A PRAYER" is a
tribute to "Down to You."

Peter Gabriel is yet another artist who has openly admitted to being
influenced by the great Joni........"In Your Eyes" off of "SO" is influenced
by "Dreamland" and so on and so forth.

So, I recommend that you at least listen to the work of an artist before
brandishing them off into the "non-talent" category. Because these artists
obviously know something about art if they are influenced by Joni.
