I found this particular statement interesting, because I think it relates to
how I view music. I don't necessarily think of a good song in terms of the
genre it's written in, eg. jazz, 80's-synth, disco, or whatver. I think of
a good song in terms of it's strength of music and lyrics, which is the main
reason I love Joni so much. I'm not saying that the genre is irrelevant -
obviously some genres just don't appeal full stop (I won't say which ones,
for fear of getting badly singed by flames!) but in general (note that word
"general") the strength of the lyrics and music will win me over regardless.
