Hi all, long time no write (I know) but I been kinda busy with my little
projects, trying to get a writing company started and off the ground)
Anyway, while I agree with most of this there is a little bit of disco in
DJRD, especially in the outro to DJRD when the backing singers go 'You and
I, you and I, You and I' it's VERY Boney M! ;-)
All that aside, I do find DJRD a really strange and exciting album. I always
think of it as an orange album, all the songs are orange tinged (or paprika
coloured, maybe it's the album cover that's influencing a little. Anyone get
that? Hejira being a dusky grey, Blue being blue and FTR being a little
green?
I once went to stay with a friend of mine who lived in Manchester and she
know that I liked Joni and late in the evening after we came back from a
club she played DJRD on her record player. She said her boyfriend liked Joni
and to introduce her to her music lent her the album.
I always wondered, 'Why THAT album?' It's not the easiest...
Having said that, I love playing songs from it. DJRD, Silky Veils...
