To everyone and everyone I had the pleasure of sharing Joni's Grand
Salon in Saskatoon with, one year ago,
Love and best wishes. I wish you all wonderful years of life and every
possible joy.
It's hard to believe it really happened. I need someone to pinch me. I
am so full of great memories. The connecting flight to Calgary. The
small plane into Saskatoon. Being out in an industrial no where's ville,
flat land and sharing a cab ride into 'Toon town with a band member from
Song Solique. The weather was as beautiful as the people there. I was
filled with worry and anticipation, teased by that huge wide canvas that
is the cover of Wild Things Run Fast, hanging in the foyer of the
building. Nervously swiping a post card and even more nervous when
Ranger Rick walked in as sheepishly as I. My first jmdl meeting. Rick
was like the best, best friend a kid could have. "Take that, and that,
bad guys!" WE MET JONI!!!! Me, and Rick and Ashara, and Rich. Just us. A
brief private hello with a few snap shots from Rich, who was the only
one of us on solid ground. I was so nervous I blathered away. -Joni
never got a word in!!! The queen of gab outdone by nervous, nervous
silly putty banter.
Joni was as beautiful in person as her music is.
Surprisingly, the members of the jmdl proved to be just as wonderful. It
was like meeting old friends, close friends, family. Everyone was
special, but Emil was most special of all. I treasure that meeting, and
I'm sure meeting all the other list members who weren't there will be as
pleasant an experience.
I really don't know life at all, but I damn sure have figured out what I
love, what I care about and what I find beautiful. I've got nothing else
figured out, -but I'm a damned authority on those points.
God bless you all. Long live Joni and the JMDL. YOU rock!!!!!!
