Her 16-song set included tunes made famous by Frank Sinatra, Peggy
> Lee and Julie London, though she also threw in some of her favorite
curve balls,

I caught on to this reviewer's meaning right away. Diana Krall has a
very soothing, sexy voice. I like 'When I Look Into Your Eyes' but
find it kind of lightweight, mostly in her choice of material.
Nothing really wrong with that, but when I watched her do ACOY at the
TNT tribute, I thought 'Ah, she *is* capable of doing justice to
deeper material.'
She also offered a sneak preview of her long-awaited next
> record, "The Look of Love," singing a purposefully unseductive
version of the
> title song and a stirring "Love Letters."
I'm a fairly recent convert to the soulful voice of Dusty Springfield.
Nobody sings 'The Look of Love' quite like Dusty did. She made that
song so intimate and seductive that you'd have to be made of stone not
to get a little tingle in your spine from hearing her sing it. I
think Diana could do a great job with it but I'm a bit puzzled by the
'purposefully unseductive' reference. Seems to me that kind of
treatment would kill this song which I consider to be one of
Bacharach/David's best.
