ZURICH, July 8 (Reuters) - Ex-Beatle George Harrison, who has fought
throat and lung cancer, has been treated for a brain tumor in a Swiss
cancer hospital, the Sonntagszeitung newspaper said on Sunday.
The paper said Franco Cavalli, cancer specialist and parliamentary floor
leader for the Socialist Party, did not deny he was treating the 58-year
old
guitarist at the San Giovanni hospital but declined to give details.
According to Sonntagszeitung, Harrison was in Bellinzona in the
Italian-speaking south of Switzerland during May and June for
radiotherapy.
The paper said Harrison had rented a house in Luino in Italy, a
40-minute
drive from Bellinzona, during the treatment. Harrison's lawyer and his
spokeswoman had no comment on the treatment, it added.
The paper said Harrison received cobalt radiation. In May, he had a
cancer-like sore removed from his lungs in the Mayo hospital in
Rochester, United States. He also received radiation treatment for
throat
cancer in 1998.
The Sonntagszeitung said it was not clear whether Harrison was still
being treated in Bellinzona or had returned to his house in Hawaii.
