These comments were made by Mel Lastman, the mayor of Toronto,
surrounding this city's bid for the 2008 Olympics, not by the prime
minister. We are all embarrassed that Lastman got to be mayor in the
first place. His comment about Africans boiling him in a pot belies the
fact that Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in the world.
FYI, there will be a demonstration here next week calling for the
mayor's resignation.
