Hey, a name check for Judy Davis - excellent! She's unfailingly good in
everything I've seen her in. I'm particularly fond of her marvellous
performance in Woody Allen's Husbands & Wives; she stole that film from under
the noses of a lot of great actors.

And Helen Mirren? Yeah, a class act, she IS Jane Tennyson, whoever they cast
in the film version will have a big shadow to step out of. She was superb in
The Long Good Friday, also notable for featuring Bob Hoskins in his least
cuddly role - like Luka Brasi, he's a scary guy!

But Amanda Donohoe rules my thespian world, and not just for the obvious
reasons - this woman is a seriously good actor, often the best thing in
otherwise poor enterprises (The Rainbow, Lair of the White Worm, Diamond
Skulls), and holding her own in a strong cast in LA Law. I remember the
first time I saw her, in a TV series called Game Set & Match (based on Len
Deighton Spy novels, I think) in the mid 80s. I was smitten from the word go!
