I love the Dead (and also have a soft spot for the Allmans) though, of course, living down under I never got the chance to see them. Bird Song is one of my favourite Dead songs and it was a real pleasure to hear that Phil tinkered with the words in honour of Jerry. >> I can't resist this joke, which I'm fairly certain I didn't read on the list - if I did, apologies for re-telling it. I hope Deadheads will take this in the spirit of affection in which it is told... Eric Clapton and Jerry Garcia's plane crashed in some inhospitable part of the world and they were taken captive by the locals, none too pleased at having their peace disturbed. They were both told they were to die, and that they could have one last wish. Jerry was asked first and he said he wanted to retrieve his guitar from the wreckage and play Dark Star one last time. Eric was asked and his reply was... "Oh, just kill me now." Azeem in London I resort to jokes to gee me up from the total bummer of having chicken pox - chicken pox, I ask you, at 36! Oh, and I heard All I Want on the radio this morning, which was great, even if the presenter did announce it as My Old Man!
