You weren't the only one who was shocked. It took me a while
to get over that one! A real shame and right in the middle of
preparations for doing the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy
Movie. From what I understand the project is now on the shelf.
Another book that you didn't mention is Last Chance Too See
which is non-fiction and about ecology but still has his wonderful
humour throughout.
Speaking of So Long And Thanks For All The Fish I loved the
part from the book where he describes his wait for a train where
he buys some biscuits and sits down to do the crossword. He
inadvertently steals someone else's biscuits while he thinks
someone else is stealing his.
