As always, you've all been wonderful with your words of support and
encouragement. I started to send individual responses, but then my email
server was taken offline (permanently) so I've been in e-mail oblivion for a
week.
Jimmy very kindly asked me about posting more lyrics. Well, that got me
going on a project I've been meaning to do for quite some time. I've
recorded 9 of my songs digitally and have created a CD. I've only made 10
copies so far (it takes a while to copy them and print and assemble the CD
booklet). If there's enough interest and if anyone has ideas about
electronic distribution to those who want a copy (big assumption here on my
part :-), I'm all ears. (I'm still old-fashioned. I like the idea of a CD
package, with art work, lyrics, etc...)
In the meantime, here's are some lyrics that never really became a song...
lots of love
Anne
In Georgia's Eyes
An eagle's squint and an artist's hand
Stroke the land and sky
I'd like to see the world
Through Georgia's eyes
The sun bites at the windowpanes
Perched on walls so high
Smoke drains colors all away
In Georgia's eyes
A single door in black or rust
Opens through stark white
Tiles march through the dust
In Georgia's eyes
There's a blackbird stalled above the snow
A tree gnarled in the night
A big cross stalks New Mexico
In Georgia's eyes
A skull hangs above the land
Faraway and nearby
It's death and life and dust and sand
In Georgia's eyes
An eagle's squint and and artist's hand
Stroke the land and sky
I'd like to see the world
Through Georgia's eyes
