I did just now, and it doesn't do any better. Besides, one wouldn't
want to escape the parentheses---they are essential for the matching
groups.
In fact, I took the entire final example

verbatim and put it in my <generator> configuration section in Maven,
and I get the same error.
I think I must be making some grand mistake. :D
