you mean something like the return of an AJAX Call, well first make sure to
get the responseXML not responseText
then you can parse it with something like getElementsByTagName
Something like this
var aImages = xmlResponse.getElementsByTagName("Image");
for(i=0; i < aImages.length; i++) {
SlideImages[i] = aImages[i].childNodes[0].nodeValue;
}
if you just have a text xml you can use this function I created so you treat
it as responseXML
function XmlDom() {
if(window.ActiveXObject) {
var arrSignatures = ["MSXML2.DOMDocument.5.0",
"MSXML2.DOMDocument.4.0",
"MSXML2.DOMDocument.3.0", "MSXML2.DOMDocument",
"Microsoft.XmlDom"];
for (var i=0; i < arrSignatures.length; i++) {
try {
var oXmlDom = new
ActiveXObject(arrSignatures[i]);
return oXmlDom;
} catch (oError) {
//ignore
}
}
throw new Error("MSXML is not installed on your system.");
} else if (document.implementation &&
document.implementation.createDocument) {
var oXmlDom =
document.implementation.createDocument("","",null);
oXmlDom.addEventListener("load", function () {
this.__changeReadyState__(4);
}, false);
return oXmlDom;
} else {
throw new Error("Your browser doesn't support an XML DOM
object.");
}
}
Then use this objects as
var oXmlDom = new XmlDom();
oXmlDom.loadXML(sResponseText);
You treat XML like and DOM :)
