I believe it is only appropriate that I start by wishing you all a very happy and successful year. May the year be a year of great achievements and fulfillment for us all. This is going to be long, but I implore you to take time out to read and let's reason together. I am writing to sort of get you thinking about our role as youths and developing leaders in the forthcoming elections. I can bet that we have politicians among us who are contesting the 2007 general elections. I have been watching events unfold in the country at large and Rivers state where I reside, in particular. It is unprecedented in the history of this nation the type of reckless looting and outright stealing of public funds being carried out by the so called leaders and it seems there is nothing you and I as ordinary Nigerians can do about that. One would ordinarily have said thank God EFCC has helped, if not for its selective nature and how it is being used to hound perceived opponents of this government. I am sure a lot has been said and written about this that I do not wish to bore you with the sad details. My concern at this time is for the future of the Nigerian youth and the future generations to come. Having considered so many factors therefore, I have looked at the line up of politicians jostling for positions in the next dispensation and it is sad to say, only a few really are worth investing our votes in. The presidency, clearly and the state houses are my main interest areas because if the governors and the president do what they swear to do, the houses of assembly will have no choice but to do theirs. With OBJ and Atiku tearing the nation apart, with PDP making a mockery of our constitution and the AC and ANPP not looking serious, I think it is time we all come together and seek an alternative, and look at someone through whom the youth can experience better employment opportunities and better living as a whole. I have decided to go with Prof. Pat Utomi. I dare say some might think I am running a campaign for Prof. Utomi. But why not? If I believe strongly that not an OBJ extension in Yar Adua/Goodluck or Atiku or any of these thieving politicians can save the country from doom, why not? I dare say also that if the continued blackout in the whole country, coupled with the insecurity of lives and property especially in the Niger delta and PH particularly, the battered education system, lack of social security, dilapidated infrastructure, corruption of the highest order and many more are not enough to make me run a campaign for a better alternative, what then will? OBJ's achievements? Tell me, if a government that has earned more money than all past governments put together can not in 8 years do something that translates to putting a smile, one real smile on the faces of its poverty stricken citizens, who are dying daily because there is no access to good medicare, good roads, where doctors are either on strike or threatening to go on strike, where the policeman has been forced to turn his gun on the people he is paid(?) to protect, and you talk of GSM. Na GSM we go chop? May I remind you that it was Abacha that started the process/ Remember he started with "nought-nine-nought"? I am using this medium to sentise you all on the need to rally round a proven technocrat that understands the aspirations of the Nigerian youth. Please check out europe4Nigeria.com for more info on Prof. Pat and what efforts nigerians in diaspora are making towards making this country better through their support for the Utomi candidacy. I hope those that have registered do go out and vote on that day. Please, please, please, do not stop praying for dear Nigeria. i am praying for Nigeria everyday these last 24 days for those of you who attend RCCG, you know what i mean. No sacrifice is too much for your nation. Please vote for Prof. Pat Utomi. Reactions are welcome, please be constructive . God bless you all. Nigeria go Survive! Best Regards.
