I had a dream!

I had a dream, a wonderful vision.

In response to the 30th Anniversary Programme of events, the green light had
been given for the whole world to feel the impact of Jos Commandos as they roll
out the drums to celebrate.

I had a dream...

The Jos Chapter of the COJOSA (CSS Jos Old Students Association), the mother of
all the chapters, has already swung into action as it prepares to host all
Commandos from all over the world.

The vibrant Chapters in Abuja, Lagos, PH, Kaduna, Benin, Ibadan, Aba, Kano,
Maiduguri, Yola, London, South Africa and London are all coming in Buses and
Airplanes.

And one or two Private Jets.

I had a dream...

All the hotels in Jos are booked. It is easier to pass through the eye of a
needle than to get a room in Jos. Jos Commandos have booked it all! Set after
Set are having Grand Re-unions and parties everywhere. Everywhere it is
laughter, jokes and happy back-slapping.

The Information Desk is swamped with calls.
Where is the '86 Set party?
What about the 1992 Set?
A long list of Commando-commandeered hotels is compiled and consulted.

I had a dream...

The LOC is trying to accommodate all the requests for sponsorships. The Adverts
on NTA Network, NTA Jos, PRTV and AIT have been quickly snapped-up and are
running on heavy-rotation by the hour on the hour. Several Sets sponsored
several Newspaper adverts.

There is a plethora of Commemorative Bumper Stickers, T-Shirts, Face Caps,
Cups, Plates and everything imaginable. Some Entrepreneur-Commandos who own
their Companies are advertising their businesses. Commandos in the same fields
of specialization are coming together. There are free Eye-checks by the
Doctors. Free Computers are donated by the IT Commandos. The Commando Civil
Engineers will carry out structural works for the new Computer lab.

Still, there are clashes. Some Commandos are unhappy that THEY HAVE BEEN ASKED
TO SHARE in the sponsorships of some of the events. The LOC says they have MORE
THAN ENOUGH sponsors and are advising late-comers to share sponsorships. What a
wonderful problem!

I had a dream...

The CSS Jos website carries the live feeds of the events so that Commandos all
over the world can watch the events live. The website is something else. It is
a virtual Command Jos Community where Students, Faculty, Parents and Alumni are
all interacting in cyberspace.

You want to know the latest antics of the new generation Commandos? Don't miss
the weekly electronic magazine put out by the Students themselves. Who just got
a baby girl? Check the website. Another must-read is the hilarious (and some
say junk-laden) Gossip column by the precocious JSS 3 student who seems to know
everything that happens in every dark corner.

Imagine this. Technology will bring us back to school: ALL Jos Commandos -in
and out of Zaria Road- living in one incredible Community. Wow.

I had a dream...

The Commando Nation has become self-aware.
WE KNOW we are strong, united and powerful.
We are the future.
The Young has grown.
Our time has come.

Soon, one of us will be in EVERY AREA of influence. Look out world! Jos
Commandos have arrived.

The Anniversary Celebrations shake Jos Town.
People wonder.
Our Parents are proud.
Command Jos becomes a Brand.

The various Events to mark the Anniversary are well attended. Because of the
crowd, several events are held at the same time at different venues. It is like
a Convention.

I had a dream...

Too bad it is just that: A DREAM.

But, I hope it will be a CALL TO ACTION.

THE ANNIVERSARY IS HERE!

not only plan but also believe.
