mornin all, this is quite interesting, and i think it can go beyond just nick names, stories of the good(bad) old days also makes good reading, maybe at the end of it all some myths and legends can be busted...or beter understood by all....myths about some of our seniors, mates, juniors doing things that sometimes sound far fetched...and also some true life encounters that can be talked about now and make good jokes..like what tiwiex wrote...i also have a couple of commando stories that when i look back now seem funny but back!! then not so funny...i got so many but let me give y'all one....one morning after the jugging..y'all know how it is..before preping for dinning..senior amechi ( by the way i was in annex house...the only one then now annex 1) asked me to press his shirt..i joined the que and when i saw an opening i tried to quickly press so i can go join the que for the sprint to the dinning hall..lol..unfortunatelly the iron was really hot and amechi's shirt was a silk one...u all knw what happened now..i just burnt it..as i saw it burn it felt as if my whole life was crumblin i just dropped it right back on the shirt a dashed out of the hostel straight into the corn fields to go gather my thots on the next line of action (evasive move 101)....while i composed my thots amongs the corns..i thot my life tru and really felt it was over(funny how shallow our mind culd be back then).then i thot of the breakfast i wuld miss if i dont get out on time..so i got out and went straight to mr okoro's house..my house master and told him what i did....now here is the funny part..when i told mr okoro that i was dead for burning amechie's cloth, he told me indeed u r dead and i should just keep running round and round the school till he gets the chance to talk to him else he will not be responsible for my death....honestly, even the teachers recognised the problems we faced as juniors...suffice to say when i saw him i still got some lashes and bought a new shirt..but good thing was that i was still able to meet breakfast...lol Razaq Adegboyega Elegbede Mnitp, Rtp< Razzy> Chief Executive Officer Ifako-Ijaiye Local Planning Office Lagos State Physical Planning and Development Authority 11-14 College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Govt. Hello, Good morning all. I think by the time this exercise is through we would be able to write a true history of Command days. But there is just one problem, people are talking in parables. No one seems to be using real names for those nicknames. That we we can laugh more. I am sure by now we suppose fit see the joke in it all even if most of them seem to point to dining hall 9more specifically food). Bayo, I am still coming for you. Senior Daniel, please give us the name(s). Both the stronge and supposedly less. Talking of stars Armstrong Izebihen (His real name though badly spelt i believe. You see what I mean?) gave me one hot slap (or was it a punch) and i saw white for real. now I don't know if some people see many stars, all I saw was white. I can't forget that day. We were gathered in the connection between zone b & c in Tiger House. What was that space called again? I can't remember. I have always been looking for him. Just to tell him of that day. Definitely not to pay back. I just might see them again. i ain't taking any chances. i still visualize d white as i type Who knows where he is? I hear somewhere in the UK. Talking of Tiger House. Who remembers Brazil? What was his real name sef and where the &^%$% are those guys? Tony Adagboyi, Brazil, Innocent Okeke, Janson Uto etc etc. Those are people you just can't forget. They must have been trouble. This definately qualifies as the best medicine for this drill called Monday! I have real tears in my eyes! Anyway, tanx to my lastname, I didnt need anymore nicks, but I do remember one incident; It was my 1st breakfast in the dinning hall and i was walking to the hall like everyone else when this senior asked me to walk ahead of him to another senior who seemed rather impatient at the way we were coming to the halls (in my opinion) and tell him (and I quote): 'Redneck, that senior said u should move out of the way so he can pass'. Ofcourse i never completed the sentence! I saw stars! and i swear till this moment, those stars were real! I didnt cry at first becos i was enjoying the spectacle of coloured lights but then the sting sank in! U can imagine the rest of the story! Anyway for those of u who werent there in '84 the impatient senior was the hall prefect & the senior who sent me was the strongest senior at the time, so i chose the lesser of the 2! Remeber the no plates/cutlery, no dinning rule.....and the tapping that used to take place on those queues...... ..God, those were the days...) and would just show and say 'owo kan' with a funny accent..... I know who Shyden is and I think we call him Captain Shy. However, Bayo failed to mention his real name which i think kills the fun Anyway, since Bayo has decided to join in I think i should dig up some dirt. Bayo had this monkey jacket which he folds over ..... SHOULD I CONTINUE? Do you really want me to continue? Let me give you a choice because I just can't remember a nickname but I have the character. Yes your nickname is Basky. But, we have to make this fun. Basky, please give me the permission. I will be nice. Ejooooooooooo. I will buzz u soon man. Hey guys, Nice to see some fair exchange today. I think we all should give Tunde & Daniel a round of a plus for the entertainment we got last week. It broke the monotony of all the other mails. I am sure we all enjoyed it and were looking forward to more. I think senior Gabriel just used mature sense kill am today But seriously, i found it quite entertaining. Trust me, i think it was quite constructive and I was beginning to enjoy the exchange. i think it was converging to a constructive point. Tunde obviously did not mean harm. and i actually think Daniels comment was not spurred by Tunde but by Gabriel. Whatever the case I guess we are all cool now. Think about it. Which conversation would you remember most? i think it is these so called non-constructive ones that seems to trigger a response. Guys, keep em coming. Did i also tell you guys. Daniel's nickname in school was Eskimo. Well amongst his set. Ooops. I am not sure weather he bought a jacket from Alaska or he had one that looked like it was made for Eskimos. Daniel can clarify. Now you all know something about Daniel. He is also from the 92 set just like me and he also keeps to himself unless the need arises. Tunde, you really brought him out in the forum. thanks a bunch. Eskimo, abeg call me now. (08072016042) So, whose nick name is next on the list? Have a nice day. Tiwiex (92 set) yup that was mine. to be explained later this week. Although I do not now remember or have even met those of you in the latter sets, what I say is who cares! For me it's the command spirit and the opportunity to tap from the noble products of our great institution! Opinions on issues will naturally vary but you would find some quite informative and challenging. The goal is; take advantage of all! I'm proud of you guys! Just keep the mails flowing, let the feeling out! You just might be making some one's day! By the way Kester, you've been gone from Command for 24 whole years now?! I think someone with link to their "forwarding address" back in Jos will be in a position to help, suggest you spread the search radius further and hope we all get to share in your findings too! Sending a large number of forwarded emails daily....., I tell you most people will delete them. It defeats the purpose. What I am simply saying is the approach can be improved and not suggest I junk your mails. That defeats the purpose of the list. I did not mean to put you off from your very good intentions. Read through the previous mails from individuals, what you see is somebody is getting married, somebody is dead and you begin to see constructive words to best describe the person, is that all to it in this group.!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! !. I am going to mention names here beacause nobody should rout my noble course , Gabriel Bigwan, i guess you did not read my mail carefully before passing your comments which seems to me a Pastor reeling out his scripts, if you are, this is the best place to win souls for God and not condemn. Godwin Okpe, the best you could do is delete and classify it as junk and allow others to benefit, if it is not in anyway useful to you and you need to educate me more on what i am expected to add or say that would meet the purpose of this group otherwise i see no reasons for your claim so far. Please don't stop, you can never please all, but certainly somebody is being educated or blessed by what you do. You only need to explain your GOOD INTENT and continue with your wonderful work. Let us look at this senerio, a job advert is placed in the group, to some it may not apply and it serves no use (or putting it harshly useless) but to others you will ever be regarded as having blessed someone. So the important thing is the INTENT and your contributions to the GROUP. Thanks and please keep it up. John 88 set.
