Tope, if ur baby (wife/sister) comes to u to say dad i am ill, naturally u ask, what is wrong & she says headache, the next logical thing to do is give her some medicine or take her to hospital or call a doctor or put cold towel on her forehead to cool down the temp. U have watched and observed and even got ashamed, but u have failed to profer any suggestions/solutions or ideas, u are just as guilty as the rest of us ur trying to point to! pls whether social or official do not critisize a problem without recommending likely solutions, that's one quality of a good manager & i bet ur one. That said, when a problem looks uncommon or complex, u must think out-of-the-box, these meetings were there before but some reason, they all just fizzled away. therefore to realign again, there must be some redefinitions; what binds us? same set? members of sneaking train? interhouse sports? just what? e.g. a student who graduated from St gregs last year will not attend oldboys meeting and want to go and sit beside Cardinal just becos he's an 'oldboy'. same here, what are the joining criteria? what are the requirements etc? i also have thot along the lines u have and i am suggesting as follows; * JOGGING: all cssj folks in a particular state/city/town/etc can agree to jog together 1 saturday of the month, meeting is after jogging say 1hr or 2, share drinks, eat breakfast and nominate the next jogging venue or host (who will go around and locate a field or stadium and communicate to the group thru whatever means). This will bring everyone together at least and there is a common interest - jogging for health, for bonding maybe just to sing! but then other things pick up etc. this is where i was going with the jogging wahala i have been harrassing the group wit - now u have forced it out of me. So people of lagos - Is this something u would like to do? * FOOD: aside jogging on my mind, we all also connected with dinning hall stories. and i have it in mind to organize a cook out. everyone comes with something half cooked and we roast our fingers grilling and baking and stuff,.. just my idea. * on the other issues that have been discussed even if jokingly, it is now clear that 80% of students jump fence to eat kose & yellow ferringada loaf, so for instance do we suggest to the school authorities to introduce these items as treats for the students? * the remaining 20% wanted to watch (indian & chinese) films - so does the school want to show movies from time to time? see how as adults we all scrambled to see dark Knight some week ago? and i remember vividly till date whenever i feel low in spirit i hum the theme song of chitibambam - the one film i watched in cssj! So my friends there are a 1001 tales in these stories we've been sharing but u need to have 'eyes' to see. they say its only a mad man that does the same things over and over again but expects different results. we tried one way, it didnt work, so we learn our lessons, cut and move on! the cssj spirit can never die! the memories will live forever in everyone's hearts, we just need to find a proper synergy to make the most out of everything & everyone. i will stop here. but not before committing to lagos people interested in the jogging for health - cssj style, that I Opolo Daniel will ensure i fly down kose & yellow loaves from feringada to be served as breakfast after jogging if the project takes off! in ur replies just vote yes to jog and suggest how we can implement sharp sharp - we need field, location, convenient date & time etc etc,.. since e morning eh! since e morning eh! i never chop i never sleep na so so joggin joggin we don tire, e!!!!!!!!!!!
----- Original Message ---- From: Topsy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: joscommandos@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, September 3, 2008 8:05:38 PM Subject: [Jos Commandos] Knock....Knock Dear All. I have imagined the best way possible to pass this message across without being crucified beyond limits. This is strictly my opinion and I stand to be corrected. For some time now I have been watching things from the sidelines. I have watched this once vibrant group slowly lose steam and the Command spirit that drives us to the extent that all we do now is share jokes and gists of old escapades back in school. I am imagine why not a single one of our branches is functioning anymore. We seem to have given in to our weaknesses and jettisoned our strengths. Lagos branch, what happened to you guys? I am ashamed of what happened to us in Port Harcourt and Abuja. There is immeasurable advantages in getting together. A lot of reasons and excuses have been given for this one-step-forward, two-step-backward movement. While some may be tenable, others are just as a result of lack of commitment to the Command cause. I always sadly, remember Adam John's "101 questions and where are the real Commandos". I had thought that will get us thinking and inspire us to prove that we are still among the best crop of nigerian products of Command extraction. However, it seems it did not make any meaning to us. What exactly are we not doing right? Is it that we can not organise ourselves effectively to constitute a major force, even in the country at large? There have been attempts in the past to have a constitution, establish and nurture new branches, while consolidating those existing. The question is why did these attempts fail? There must be something we can do to overcome whatever challenges we are faced with and reposition COJOSA. I think time is now to get ourselves back together again and like the old song let's prove "We don come again o". Thank you all for your time. Best Regards. Babatope Ojo Class of 88 08035300189
