i wish to make the following contributions!
I suggest, the most senior excommando available should take charge of the
event, just like
we did in the last meeting, or at best, Barka Saleh Benson, who anchored the
last meeting
should in the interim, hold forth pending when there's a proper body elected or
put in place
take charge.
Concerning food and drinks, lets not just bother our selves with food, but
drinks.
Some of us are willing to bring wine,spirits etc, thats ok, drinks at the mess
are usually cheap, i suggest before the day proper, some of us would have
signified our interest to make cash contributions, we can therefore plan with
that and drink according to our pocket, worst case scenerior, Barka Benson
Saleh had promised each of us drinks, we can as well draft a senior or two to
assist him on that in addition to what Ali Aduku is providing.
Bukola Thomas suggested we do barbeque, thats ok by me, i discussed with Tunde
Okikiolu, i will implore him to be responsible for a greater part of footing
the bill for the barbeque and ofcourse, i will be supporting him on that. It
wount cost us more than N12,000.00 ( WHAT A SACRIFICE FOR COMMANDOS).Just
realized, we have not been able to meet and properly plan these event, some new
things that would cost money just keeps creeping up, considering the fact the
event was really inpromptly agreed, the timing so short and also knowing we all
are working or simply just hustling. As a commando, we cant afford to fail.
Mbanu!!!!! not just possible.
Concerning the venue, i have just been informed that they would be making only
30 chairs available for us, and that if we would exceed 30, it means we have to
hire extra chairs. For me, no shaking, i have decided to reach out to 87/88
sets for further support, atleast i can rag my mates, for my seniors, i no wan
serve purnishment, as for my juniors, i dont want to be accussed of doing
'ogboju'.
Concerning the scribe for the day, i implore Bimbo and Yinka Omibiyi to amongst
themselves agree to handle that, they seem to be the power house of the past
exco,
pls lets do all we can to make sure our elders (seniors, particularly the first
five sets) be actively informed and be involved, lest we miss out in the
tapping of their wisdom and well deserved contributions.Was intouch with Victor
Okhai, he did sent his regrets over not being in attendance in the last
meeting, i am sure we did over looked , and i have already appologised to him
for that, he is indeed with us in spirit and flesh all the way.
I sincerely commend those who have been very active in online/ emaill
interactions thus far, it is however glaring that we need to add more flesh/
actions to all those suggestions and contributions we usually see online.
Mess ofcourse will provide, light music, but i am sure we will be doing some
PR's.
My rgds to all commandos who are really commandos 'indeeds' (action) and not in
words.
It is pertinent to mention at this point, that, we all are in the steering
committee, its just that a few us will just have to put in that extra effort,
to be there to ensure that we all catch our fun that day.
