Mike,

greetings, first, you have begun by breaking the rule, you did not introduce
yourself or follow the formalities of which set and house you passed out from
(Great apologies if you are my  senior)

On the other side, Col Ayoola, the first commandant of the great school command
jos, highlighted both aspects of the motto of our school "DISCIPLINE first and
therafter KNOWLEDGE". Therefore you cannot be right that he instilled
INDISCIPLINE in us. He actually highlighted it. His style of Discipline was not
pleasant, but it robbed on most of us prized reward of many virtures both
mentally and physically.

If a poll is taken, he will be judged to have built men and women of self
respect, integrity and hardwork

My 2 pence contribution.

Regards
John

That's right Daniel,
Ayoola's style did have a lot of pay-offs on us. I too owe him for a great part
of who I am today.
Imagine at 14 and freshly relocated back to Naija, my 1st few months was a
dream, no, a Nightmare. Even though I was in form 3( almost a senior), I
couldn't understand why the man walked around with that multiple mouth koboko,
and would use the thing on you at sight, whether what you were doing at the
time for good or bad. So me I soon just made sure I stayed away from his sight.

I remember also Wednesdays, the trotting day, if you were in motion, you had to
be trotting or else, you would have to face that koboko; so again me, I
generally stayed put on Wednesdays to avoid that stink.
Anyone remember romeo and Juliet list? The assembly hall show? I almost hurt
myself badly from thinking a letter would be sent to my dad about something I
was not even guilty of, you see, my dad was the only other man I feared more
than Ayoola, luckily that one didn't happen.
But hey, with all these, I soon became a stronger person, some even said later
that I too was feared. I soon learnt discipline, respect and deep commitment
with no option to fail, these are who I am today and no one can take them away
from me.

Ayoola was unique in his way, he was a good man.

Lest u forget Command is a paramilitary school and like it or not, the
administrators were supposed to be strict over and above the regular principals
/ headmasters! Besides, Lt Col Ayoola's discipline earned me 5 A's and 3 C's,
and till date my colleagues and friends dont understand how i am able to
out-jog all of them every last sunday of the month when we meet for the ritual
(especially as i dont play football with them). Rules are rules, and breaking
the rules under him got you the sanctions without sentiments! And it must have
been the same for others after him. Pls try and address issues instead of
attacking the person! Sneaking, indiscipline, action, parents access to all
school environment etc are all issues,... Ayoola i believe played his role and
deserves our respect,.. scratch that; he more than earned it.

Arewo, how you dey sef ? You just brought up LT. Col  Ayoola"s issue. It is my
believe that it was him that brought the gross indicipline into cssj with his
jungle justice method that led to the indefinate suspension/expulsion of some
students then for no fault of theirs. if you can remember then, there was a
tuck shop that runs till 6pm for students to get their needs especially
AMBROSIA that is bread as porpularly called by students, outing was open to
all, and visiting days were so sweet. but when he came, he scattered every
thing in the name of instilling discipline. his tenure had the highest sneeking
record, parents were not very eager to come visit their children in school for
the fear of being insulted by the commandant. Parent dont even know about the
school environment because their movements were restricted. I strongly believe
you participated in ACTION and it was fun, even though it does not occur
often, I know the punishment for that
then was V portion of grass to cut. Can you believe that Ayoola expelled 13
student for action some of whom were not even in the dinning hall. His reign
was a reign of TERROR. He never knew how to deal with student. If it were now I
would have prescribe A course for him on child psychology. Glad to read from
you. Cheers to all COJOSAs.

Kester/Mike
I still dey kankpe. I am fine here(Aberdeen) preparing for the cold.
I visited CSSJ some time back and was really shocked by the state of things.
But think i saw some little change in August '10 when i was in Jos.
Have read all that is going on about our former House Master Pa Uwakwe, i shall
send in my contribution.
Kester hope u know that Zakka is late? Also heard that PK is late too, i really
have not confirmed that.
I do appreciate all the hits from the old students, its really some good stress
therapy. It also brings to memory some of those joyous moments in CSSJ. Markus
Danrimi, Elaigwu(teacher), Daniel Mamjing(Jack Lord) are all in the Army. I
dont know where they are serving at the moment.
take Kia guys and God bless u richly

Command kept him shock for a while. He remembered all the football loses they
suffered in our hands. Anyway guys don't forget Papa Uwakwe's contribution.
Let's show him we care. Stay blessed. Mike Agana (83 set)

Yes oo guys. Ah aah Arewo, you worry. Any way, it was such exploits that gave
us the BRAVERY to go to St John's College to teach them some lessons on combat
and also showed them what we have learnt in Kwaf. It could'nt have been just as
easy as it was for Just the few CSSJ students (then).
On that occassion, St John's College had a double tragedy in one night. They
lost the match at Hilcrest and they got good 'panel beating' for daring Command
guys.
Its was fun while we were there.
Bless u all

Snr Kess, while I hail 84 sets as raw rear untouchable nerve breaking people, 4
a reminder, these 84 set dared 82 & 83 set and they stole our shine (85 set). 4
sneaking 85 tops all sets in d 80's.

While d 84 set where abt 2 leave, CSSJ had her 1st Army Principal ( Lt-Col E.O.
Aye-ola). D Commandant's coming broke d rack & file in d sch. He discipled
Teachers & Students as He feel fits.Teacher where not spared disciple in d
present of students, dis broke d moral .

Exalts were only issued by d Commandant. Resident Teachers needed one 2 visit
Jos Town. D  admin Officer 1 Captain was not spared also.

Now since 1 bull Dog cannot man students & Teachers, sneaking became free 4 all.

In our time, 1st term d line was already drawn. Teachers pitched in wit d
students. We all became 1 team against d Commandant. We all hide within each
other 2 avoid d wrap of d Commandant. When a Teacher sees a Student sneaking,
He or She advisers U ( Student) 2 wear d Sch uniforn when sneaking.

In our time d emergency bells were stroke very offen. On 2 occassions head
counts where made on a Sunday, 4 u could tell cssj compound was empty. As d
count was going on, from 100 round ups, lists starting building 4 ghost &
spirit of all absentice.

Dis repeated itself n all occassions d Commandant lost against the TEAM
COMMAND.

Hence when sneaking, u report ur intention on what Train u want 2 ride on. Each
Train time had a team coach driver. U book ur case, and if found eligible ,
u meet @ d set STATION  zero spot 4 departure. D rake & file was followed here.

A Snr most head each team. Every Coach checks in with d big bosses ( 5A-5D
Class Captains). I was d Class Captian of 5A. I was not a prefect in my time
but I had at least 7 prepects in my class which made me d Capon D Titi of Set
85.

I had an Adjustant ( James Aliyu ). I could tell u what Train has left or
enrout or back routing n d thier ETA's. There was no laid down rules but
every Train coach must return with d same departure souls on board.

And 4 been the Capon d Titi, I had was nerver out of edibles 24-7.

We started d FARIN- GADA TRAIN. Of d old times, sneaking was done immediately
after lunch 2 catch up with 2:30pm Quararafa Film only. In our time we still
follow d 2:30pm start up time but had 11 other Trains. D Train starts at 2:30pm
till 11:30pm.

U could track the sneaking Train n book 4 supplies. Basically they were all
Farin-Gada bound 4 Mai Shayi

Has any SET came dis close? I will only point 2 Set 86 only.

2 days in history in my time 75% of d student sneak out on broad day light, 1
was when We lost a very good Teacher who got burnt in an auto accident near
Uni-Jos n when 1 of my set mate put 2 bed during our WACE exams in a hut 3
schools towards
Farin-Gada. In these times, if d Commandant knew no body seems to care anymore.

Peace.
 Arewo 85.

Command Jos has always been an institution of sneakers.no wonder our boys
always do well in covert operations and excel in the NDA.who remembers the
massive sending home of students around 82 when half the boys in school went
out to watch the hottest chinese film then..I think it was the 36 chambers of
shaolin.we who did not sneak were making fun of them that CSSJ is the 37th
chamber.
