Dear all,
I count it a rare priviledge to belong to this group. I have followed the
discussions on this issue keenly. A lot has been said, so I will just try to
make my point(s).
First I want to commend a few people for their efforts. they are not unnoticed.
Kadiri, Vivian, Bamidele, Bimbo, the generality of the Lagos chapter and of
course Daniel. You guys are doing a great job!
Now, this is not the first time this issue is coming up. I have come to
understand that we do a lot of talking and when it is time to act, we simply go
mute. In October 2009, a few of us from the class of 88 finally put together a
sum of 740K from 21 out of about 110 members after almost two years and bought
10 sets of computers for the school. I recall Tony Akhidenor's e mail urging
everyone to visit his FB page to see the pictures and also to join in the
contributions. I know for sure that no one said anything about that till today.
Now the time has come again for us to show that we really have the interest of
the school at heart. If there is a group on FB with up to 485 members, I think
it is a good avenue to reach out to people to make their contributions. Imagine
if we can get another 21 members of each graduating set to contribute 500k, we
will be talking about 10million naira. I know we can do much better than that
though. This will go a long way to do something tangible for starters.
I implore you all, let us use the Abuja meeting next month to actualise a dream
borne out  of our collective desire to see CSSJ up there again. I plan to be
there.
Earlier this year, I had the priviledge of speaking with the USA group via a
conference call. A lot of things were enumerated. What are we doing about them?
We can set ourselves a tiomeline of 6 months to put a committee in place that
will source for funds and collate all ideas and suggestion on the project(s) to
embark on.
Once again, I hope it will noit be out of place to use this medium to
appreciate all those 20 others in my set that made the computer project
possible. We promised to go back last April but we could not. This time around
let us join the larger house to make it bigger and better.
God bless you all and God bless CommandJos.
Finally, happy eid-el-Kabir to all our moslem brothers and sisters.

Best Regards.

Vivian,

I think that when you plan to do battle, you have to do so strategically. The
axiom is; you don't shoot until you have ascertained the strength and spatial
position of the enemy. Also your intelligence should collate inform you on the
overall strength, manoeuvrability (tactical) and moral disposition of your
enemy forces. Even with a few battalion, you could move swiftly to a great
conquest over a division!  WE ARE NOT CHILLING OUT!

Arewo has summed it well, but we have to identify the real reasons for the
decay, and until we do, we may in fact be empowering those responsible in the
first place. I have had a first hand assessment of the situation - happened to
be home on vacation and took the time to drive around with friends and family.
Not really sure what to expect at the first but boy! I was simply appalled! The
decay ran deep and your first thought on impulse is:  "this must be a
deliberate sabotage"! Yours truly met "Deborah" - she taught us geography /
religious knowledge and heaven forgive me, I have remembered her only by the
nick name we called her. She's old and a little frail now. I stopped to greet
and to introduce myself ( didn't realize how much I'd changed myself!). As she
told the story of how things have faired since we "passed" by. As she spoke you
were left in no doubt that several factors over the years have combined to
cause this "wreckage".

Fixing our old Command would no doubt be a daunting task! I understand the
zest, pride and good will exuded from these correspondences but any efforts
must be concerted, deliberated and "restoration" plans carefully planned and
deeply thought through! It would be a long journey, much as it has taken to
cause this ruin or twice over!

My suggestion on the way forward would be to initiate a frank discussion and
feedback with the current Commandant, if and when the opportunity does come.
The planned party in Abuja shouldn't be skewed to mere merriment - perhaps a
genuine engagement can open the flood gate for the hidden issues to be spilled
up. This communication forum can then be used to churn out suggestions on the
many issues that may be propped. But first, I think a co-ordinating committee
would have to be set up to harness these and in time plan a meeting where as
many members as can converge do so or representatives (from all the branches of
CoJOSA) to champion and own the process in their respective domains - voluntary
soldiers serve the best!

If I have managed to ignite some passion on this topic, let the debate begin. I
trust our collective goodwill will pave the way for a fruitful deliberation.

Cheers!

Dear Paul and all ye Commandos ,

I feel you in this matter.

2 things I feel can be done. A couple us can pay a visit to the school to
ascertain what it will cost to put the place back in shape.

Then let's come back to lagos and organise a fund raising dinner and invite all
the who is who's whose children have passed through the scool.

Those of us who have pictures from command in its days of glory should get them
together as we will need them for publicity.

If we pursue this event with huge publicity and 'funfare' we will achieve
something big. Haba! Command, my Command.

Hello Everyone,

I did drew the attention of the house about this sometimes in Nov' 09 last
year. Am happy people are now getting angry and asking questions. I see good
responses coming.

If 90's sets are crying out this loud! What should the 80's sets do! Maybe we
should all go to Jos n block the Sch gate for quick answers.

What U 90's sets are crying about is just a chip of what CSSJ was in my time. I
felt a deep pain when I did visit. I walked in through my classs, dinning hall
to the my hostel, not even one student stopped or greated me, that's how low
the moral up bring of the young one's in sch.

All the green grass quadrangles are gone, very tall grass in our football pitch
behind the Admin block, buildings planted indiscriminately. U need to visit. I
assure U, from the gate U will start to cry. Or better still if not for the
name of the sch, U might drive pass it only to reach FGC then U will recon U've
passed Commmand.

CSSJ now pass for Naragutta Sch.

I hope to be in Abj when Commandant would visit, Guys & Chicks, lets take our
WARS to him when he visit.

Thanks.

Hello,
Compliments.
It just came into my mind that all this while,we have been complaining about
the deplorable state of Command Jos and we are yet to look deep within.
Seeing pictures of the present state of CSSJ,gives you the jibes. The first
thing that comes to our mind is what can we do&how fast can we implement it.
Have you ever asked yourselves.......What has the Military been doing with all
the funds allocated to Military schools by the Federal government. The Military
has an educational unit primarily for educational purpose.
Funds are allocated for the yearly upkeep of this schools.
The question should be....what's the Flow process?are the funds reaching the
school?what has the commandant been doing?where are the loop holes coming from?
The Commandant should be heavily questioned.....since he is the last man
standing.
The Ufodike era also popped into my mind, the way&manner he almost milked the
school financially.
The Flow should be questioned, not just we(the ex-students)crying over the
deplorable state of the school.Fine that we can make our own contribution but
what stops the school from been fair to the students.
Government has made provision for all this, down to the basic infrastructures
like Computers,to tell you or show you how the world is advancing.......Did the
school make any provision for it,which I doubt but yet the school was. smiling
with the recently Donated Computers......then where did the funds allocated for
the provision of the computers gone to?

Additional questions......What has the Military Educational unit doing about
the states of the school?Do they still supply educational materials like
before? What does the Commandant do with all the funds channelled to him?
Why are the students paying the huge price?

Next time we are making donations to the school.....It should be questioned
internally...not just because of the glory of it.

My Candid observation.

Nice day
