Great Commandos,
I have read and re read my Sept 30 post on this forum “Before
the 17 million intervention fund” and I’m yet to find a text or phrase where I,
Ugo Ben muted or alluded or called for a probe on the administration of CSSJ.
Similarly, there appears to be no evidence to suggest that I am against such a
wonderful idea: an intervention fund for our alma mater as initiated by great
and passionate commandos; Kofo  Owojori
(86) and Sagai John Adam (86).
My personal opinion on such a proposal on a public domain
was on the strategy or strategies that could be explored. Few minutes after
these were posted on this forum my dear Godwin Okpe (87) came swinging and
practically blasted me off. Two days ago, our own Kofo and Adams came accusing
me of “muting” the probe idea. I think we are better than this. I shall NOT
demand for an apology. What binds us together is stronger than whatever the
differences in opinion,  however I would
expect COJOSA leaders especially our Eko Brothers/Sisters to intervene as
suggested by Harold Nwariaku (88) on ”the tone of our emails”.
I have come to realize that alumni matters are voluntary in
nature and involve approaches that require motivation, inspiration, diplomacy,
respect,
appreciation, conviction etc.
I had commended the President and VP of Lagos chapter (Saleh
Barka, 86 and Babayeju Taiwo, 84) when I learnt they went to Jos on a fact
finding mission. I also commended them on this forum when their initial report
was posted by John Akadang (88) and Harold.
On Oct 6 John informed us on this forum that a general
meeting of COJOSA Lagos chapter will be called at end of this month (Oct) to
discuss the report on the Jos visit. We are still waiting on the outcome of the
deliberations from North America. Not sure if PH, Abuja and UK-IRL general
assemblies have discussed but there are already set coordinators and monies are
already been collected. With due respect to everybody on this forum, it is here
that I really need help.
I think the issue is not a probe on CSSJ. The real issue is
Project management as pointed out by Gabriel Bigwan (85).That is the” weakest
link” in the proposal. This is the real issue that may affect this good idea if
not debated. We will raise the 17 million naira and maybe even more. Nobody has
yet opposed the idea of raising money. For the sake of CSSJ even after this
initial 17 million; let’s discuss the real issue either on this forum or at our
various general meetings. I reckon ‘am a proponent of Due Process especially
when it is everybody’s money.
Thanks.
Ugo Ben (82)
