Full of life, Sir, is a right word to describe Senior Ikenna- the Man with a
very Large heart.
First I know of him and his humourous ways was right here on the yahoo group.
Some time
back when he, I believe, just joined the group, he was always making me laugh
myself out
with his funny write-ups; he and Snr Taju or so.
Even while making his humors and teasing everyone, you can still see a sense of
respect whenever
his seniors get involved; O, he is such a respectful person !
My first ever real life encounter with him was in Lagos about 2 months ago
during the re-awakening
meeting of the Chapter, his presence was a surprise and this made everyone
shouted ! He came in
like a Spirit, Unexpected ! O that we knew that he only came to bid us all
farewell, maybe we would
have found a way of keeping him permanently in Lagos..............God knows
best !
He was his usual self (the same self I have known on the yahoogroup) in the
meeting; keeping
everyone as lively as possible; making jokes for which one cannot help but
laugh at; and when we got
to the main business of the day, his contributions were very knowledgeable and
expertly; this, I could
not comprehend- how one can be so very lively and humourous and at the same
time so focused and
knowledgeable in business !
And I could remember he also has a kind of a tender heart that endears him to
kids. In one of the pictures
of the PH Chapter End of the year parties, I think he, if my memory has not
failed me, was the one playing
with the children so much so that the Poster of the Pictures teased him by
calling him 'A Baby Seater'.
He also showed this nature while in Lagos where he will let not one Baby
Commando that was brought to
the meeting rest. She, like most Babies, was crying when she was taken from her
Mum's arms and
he held on to her and said: 'You must get used to me Child'.
These qualities I mentioned seemed to be too good until I heard ones that were
even greater-His contributions
to the Associations; his charitable works in COJOSA and to individuals.

We really have lost a Giant !!!

May your Soul continue to rest in Peace Senior Ikenna.
May God grant your family the strength to stand and stand out even in your
absence.

Till we meet again, someday, at Jesus' feet

Adieu Senior Ikenna.

Bamidele Julius Ajibola
1999 Set.

I received with great shock the death of Ikenna.

Ikenna was a member of the Caretaker committee of the Portharcourt Chapter with
great organisational skills and likeable personality. He had a way with every
challenge and ever willing to go on behalf of the Chapter. There was no dull
moment with Ikenna. He had a way with everybody he meets Old and young and will
always live an impression for good.

When we heard of the accident, we prayed and believed God for healing. We kept
contact with Nigeria when we were attending the COJOSANA Convention and joy
filled our faces when we heard you made it through the operation. The World is
a stage you have played your part. The Portharcourt Chapter will Miss you,
your HUMOUR, INTELLIGENCE, RESPECT & CONTACT. You have served surely God will
take care of your family.

Rest in the Bosom of our Lord.

Lord grant me the strength I need to go thru today!

Onyekwelu practically arranged my whole wedding ceremony in PH, reception
venue, hotels, car hire, DJ, drinks, etc. At a point a felt guilty leaving
everything in his hands, but he warned me not to come to PH until my wedding
day.

We were set mates and his bunk in FHH was 2 away from mine but since 1989, we
have kept a very formidable partnership and try to see each other at least once
every year!

When I heard he was in intensive care unit, I feared the worst, God forgive me!
But u see, my friend Onyekwelu has to be the most restless person in this
world, he was too full of life and an unexplainable source of energy! I used to
ask him if he swallowed part of superman's kryptonite that fell to earth? It
was practically impossible to ask Onye to sit still let alone confine him to a
bed.

I was dreaming yrtrday and remember teasing him at his bedside and said, shebi
this your yansh go siddon one place now? I am not sure, but I think I heard him
say "ol'boy no vex but u know say I no fit lie down for this bed like this".
Woke up this morning and got the news. It wasn't a dream, he actually stopped
by to bid me goodbye.

Onyekwelu, my brother, my friend, . . . rest in perfect peace!

Cheers
Daniel.

Ok, jst spoke to the wife. She confirms he made it thru surgery and stable now.
But everyone should be in PRAYERS!!! His survival now is in God's hands to
complete and she is asking everyone to join her steadfastly.

He was involved in an accident btw enugu and PH and his car sumersulted
severally. I will save u the rest of the trauma describing what followed but
you have a good idea of what our brother and friend must have passed through.

Thanks everyone as we remember him in our prayers. He is in Lagos.

Cheers

Daniel.

Thanks Taju/everyone for responding asap.

I hv also gotten feedback from Debo and it appears he is in very critical
condition and for now it appears it may be best he remains incommunicado until
he gets better. All the same, can we explore reaching his wife? Who has her
contacts? Can the PH reach the house? Can the office people tell us what
hospital? I am sure they must be involved especially if he was on official duty
when he had the accident? Someone must have these details we seek
surely??/

Cheers

Daniel.

Does this mean nobody has the wife's contact? It's only from her, a credible
information as to his whereabout and state of health would be known.
