Snr Taju,
Heaven forbid i acknowledge ur acknowledgement . . . hahaha. But the truth is
that if the tables were turned, Onyee would hv done the same and much more.
You hv said it all, he will always be remembered as a hero and it is only
fitting we rallied to the side of the family. What most people don't know is
that Onyee's dad only very recently lost his own twin brother and in the midst
of this tragedy, his son. We cannot begin to understand the man's pain so it is
important that we support and continue to stand with the family both in the
short and long term as u hv pointed out.
Onyee was also a commando in body, mind and soul. A few years after we passed
out in '89, he visited lagos and asked me abt the whereabouts of another close
friend of ours Usman Adeyemi ('89). I told him i wasn't sure of the address but
I had an idea of the estate. The next thing I knew, I was in a cab with
Onyekwelu heading to the estate, we came down at the estate gate and started
knocking from house to house until we found our friend - 3 hours later!!! Many
years later, my letter of promotion to manager simply stated that "i have a
determined way of knocking from door to door seeking out solutions to solve
business problems". And I hv him to thank for that.
Finally, I am nt sure i understand ur last request, but be rest assured that I
am as much of a member of ur team as anyone else; at least by spouse and state
of wedding (both PH). Lol. So for the records, I am one of u!!
Stay blessed and God's face will always shine on everything u do that glorifies
His name.
Cheers
Daniel (FHH '89)
