Dear great Commandos, Following a communique from the Local Organizing committee it has been brought to the attention of the Interim National Exco that some commandos feel the N10,000 convention fee is to high for all to afford. The arguments were made that all fingers are not equal and some accused the National Exco of discrimination. Firstly I will like to point out that the fee was fixed mainly by the younger sets (90's and 2000 sets) present at the Exco meeting. Secondly it has been repeated time and time again that the convention is for ex command students who want to belong to the alumnus. This choice is an individual choice and the simple procedure to belong is to identify with your chapters or directly with the National body if no chapter exists in your place near you. Some feel that we should do certain things and not do some things but the fact remains that if you do not identify with your association the association will not even know you let alone help you. We will like to further point out that we abide by decisions made during chapter meetings of which if any individual does not attend he or she may not have a say in such decisions.
However having said all that we are amendable to the suggestions put in place by our Local Organizing Committee. These are that: 1. The convention fee acceptable will now be reduced to N1, 500 (One thousand five hundred naira) minimum for those that do not have employment and students who feel they can not afford the other fees. The convention fee for workers inclusive of junior staff grade seven and below and richer students will be N5,000 (five thousand naira) minimum. The convention fee for senior staff and those that can afford it will be N10,000 (Ten thousand naira) and above. The LOC will work out various incentives attached to these fees. 2. There is no restriction however for those that are incapacitated financially to make themselves available to any member of the fund raising committee or LOC or Convention planning committee to help raise funds for our first ever national convention. Everybody knows one big man or the other nothing stops any commando from helping us raise funds for a great convention but for accountability it should be done through the appointed committees or chapters. 3. The primary aim of the alumnus is focused on uplifting the school. Welfare to its members can only be put in place after electing a full bouquet of board members and National executives who will put in place a regular means of fund acquisition for such purposes as well as a means of sustainability. Great commandos let us not put the Horse before the cart. Let us come together and start with a firm foundation so that our Command Jos Unity will stand the test of time.
