This is important work in the context of EU Digital Identity: - DVS is useful for proving possession of attestations. - DVS does not accidentally bring non-repudiation properties. In contrast, digital signature algorithms may do so, failing to meet the holder’s confidentiality expectations. This is a reason for ISO/IEC 18013-5:2021 to prefer ECDH-MAC (DVS) over ECDSA/EdDSA. - DVS avoids patent issues with ECDSA in this context: https://github.com/eu-digital-identity-wallet/ eudi-doc-architecture-and-reference-framework/issues/286 I hope the JOSE group will adopt this Internet-Draft. I’m sharing feedback on the content in the associated GitHub issues.
