So if you made the waypoint at 12:00 and the first track point is 12:10 you won't see the playhead until 10 minutes into the recording. Maybe I should make this an error condition to avoid confusion. With 'Import audio uses specific waypoints' off, the only condition that would give rise to the message 'Nothing available to associate audio with' is that there are no trackpoints in the GPX layer you are importing for. I've looked again at that bit of code and can't see anything wrong with it, so maybe I am making an incorrect assumption about what the GPX layer has in it. I think I still need to see your GPX file, but I don't think I need the WAV, so an attachment just to me would be fine.
