Provide patches to josm core which define a better interface when
required in plugins and the patches will be accepted easily.

sure, no problem, can do that. i just thought that, me being new to josm development, i would ask here first to get some feedback (and that i might get more feedback here than in trac). maybe my ideas are completely nonsense :) are they, or aren't they, and why?

JOSM uses a lazy plugin API. This means nobody cares for special interfaces until someone needs one. This means constant changes and plugion updates (BAD), but is much easier in case of changing the software and enhancing funtionality (GOOD).

Better create tickets in trac for patches and enhancements.

will do.

Add "[PATCH]" in subject for patches and tickets get higher attention :-)
