14 December Dear Friends, Thou who hast given so much to me, give me one more thinga grateful heart! -George Herbert
Gods Greatness: A Source of Comfortt Psalm 89:1-10 1 "Iwill sing of the lovingkindness of the LORD forever; To all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth. 2 For I have said, ""Lovingkindness will be built up forever; In the heavens You will establish Your faithfulness.'' 3 ""I have made a covenant with My chosen; I have sworn to David My servant, 4 I will establish your seed forever And build up your throne to all generations.'' [1] Selah. 5 The heavens will praise Your wonders, O LORD; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones. 6 For who in the skies is comparable to the LORD? Who among the sons of the mighty is like the LORD, 7 A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, And awesome above all those who are around Him? 8 O LORD God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You. 9 You rule the swelling of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them. 10 You Yourself crushed Rahab like one who is slain; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm. " What percentage of your prayer life is spent asking for things that you need? God encourages us to bring our requests to Him, but we should learn to balance our prayers with praise and appreciation. If you are a parent, you undoubtedly enjoy doing good things for your children. If he or she has a need, you will most likely do everything in your power to meet that need. Think of how wonderful it feels to hear your child say thank you for something you did for him. God is the ruler of the universe, but He is also our heavenly Father. Like any parent, He cherishes our words of appreciation. For centuries, the great saints of Christianity have expressed their words of praise to God. The Psalms are filled with poems and songs intended to glorify God. In Psalm 89:1 David writes, I will sing of the lovingkindness of the Lord forever; to all generations I will make known [His} faithfulness. No matter where you areon a crowded street or alone in quiet prayer, you can always express your thankfulness to God. If you enjoy writing, consider starting a thankful journal to record your praises and prayers to God. God is thinking of you and watching over you. Honor His faithfulness by expressing your thankfulness. Copyright 2000, IN TOUCH Magazine. In Touch Ministries. All Rights Reserved.
