Hi Joynetters

Jesus was born in Israel..which is an Asian country..
Now there are particular specialities in relationships
and the way they are expressed in Asia..
Look at our Hindu brethren...
All their Cousins are also refered commonly as
brothers and sisters..

Same is the case here..
Also here when they call Jesus as the carpenter, and
Mary's son.. they are actually insulting him...

What they are saying is that." we know what he does...
we know who his mother is..we know all his relations..
but we dont know who his father is....?

No Self respecting Jew would ever be liked to call the
son of his mother..That was the ultimate insult u
could give a guy..
Hence we have BenHur which means son of Hur,
Bensirach,
Barabbas the murderer..

An interesting thought hear..

DId u know that Barabbas's name is also Jesus..
So when pilate says to the people "Do you want me to
release for you..Jesus Barabbas or Jesus the
Messiah..?"
The word Barabbas means Son of Abba(Father)..
So the sacred author is using a play of words here..
..
SO actually Pilate is asking the Jews.."Whom do u want
...Jesus Barabbas(the Son of the Human Father) or
JESUS the Messiah the SON of GOD."

And we Know what their answer was..

Also if you read this incident in the Gospel of
mark...
u will see the next line saying..." And they rejected
him.."

So it is the people who reject jesus who ask all such
questions...?

When our protestant brethren put the same doubt before
us...We should ask them whether they are also
rejecting Jesus the Son of God...

Love and Prayers

Ravi
