Kalyan is a naughty boy who is in his 7th standard. He is more interested in
activities – like to chatting with his friends, making paper planes, boats,
disturbing others during class time etc.- than studying. Suppose he has
nothing else to do, he will start asking doubts, to explain his doubts
teachers needs ‘patience’ more than knowledge.

In his character, I noted one important quality. One is that he is very
pleasant and cheerful in nature and never shows any puckered or morose face
to anybody even to the person who punishes him severely. Secondly, he is
ready to admit his mistakes when pointed out by anybody.

Few days back I was busy with the portion ‘Physical features of Russia’
still I’m unaware why CBSE (central board of syllabus –Indian) give this
tough portion to small kids which consumes much time and effort. I was
trying my level best to make them understand the topic.

In between, I found Kalyan playing with table tennis ball. Anyway I didn’t
pay much attention to him, I tried to relax thinking that after all he is
not disturbing others. But it did not last long..I lost my temper when I
found Kalyan throwing his ball to his friend. But the ball slipped from his
hand and with in seconds two naughty ones were
grouping and fighting with each other for the ball. After getting the ball
back they came back to their seats, started giggling, laughing and passing
comments on each other. The whole class was disturbed by this event. There
was chaos and confusion in the class. I lost all my control, with full fury
I ran towards Kalyan, slapped him, and took away the ball from him. Then I
gave a strong warning to all and continued the lesson…

At the end of the period Kalyan came with his usual say “Sorry” and pleaded
for his ball. I knew him well so I didn’t give it back. I explained to him
that if I give him that ball he would continue playing with it again & will
not listen to other teachers lecture. He agreed with me and went back saying
“Mam’ you are right.” He had a frank smile for me.

Really, I thought he will cry for his ball, but his positive answer & smile
made me feel sorry for him. To justify myself I told to HIM: “Lord how can I
give him scorpion (ball) which is not good for him? That’s why I snatched it
from him.”
At the same moment lord put forth this in my conscience, “How
many times you compelled me to give scorpions for you? How can I give you
that? But you were never like Kalyan…you always showed resentment and
grumbles against me…why did you do so?” I was stunned.

Later HE showered more lights on Kalyan incident…I was thinking… World as a
classroom. Many ‘Kalyans’ are there. Yes you and me :) Jesus is taking tough
class about “LIFE”. Some of us are chatting (worldly talks) some are making
paper boats, planes (Dreams against god’s will) some are disturbing others
(by giving temptations to fellow beings, false teachings etc.) some are
asking useless doubts (why it happened so? Why you didn’t give me good
gifted which I asked for? We don’t know scorpion we asked :)) When class
become too noisy to make us concentrate HE give us small punishments. “I
rebuke and punish all whom I love”( Rev 3:19.) Even then many showed
resentment, grumbling against him…

Here we are totally different from ‘my poor Kalyan’ even small boys like him
know their mistakes but we, grown ups are not ready to accept our mistakes.
We start arguing with God, some leave Him, shows grudge against Him etc.

He patiently bears all this and waits for our coming back He wants to come
closer to us. In order to reconcile with HIM we need only two drops of tears
and a heart admits the mistakes. Yes HE wants an innocent heart from us like
my poor Kalyan have! Many times you will fall in to problems or tend to
divert from the right path. No problem…stands up and run towards HIM.
Teacher is ready to forgive!!!

Praise God!
