Hi all, We are back from the Diocese of Chanda(Ballarshah) after a 8 day programme. Thankyou for your valuable prayers, it was the backbone of the whole programme. We started off on the 27th of February and reached back safely on the 10th of March.This place Ballarshah is in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra, close to Andhrapradesh and Madhyapradesh. This was a follow-up programme of the October Jesus youth family gathering,2001(Jesus Youth Cultural Exchange Programme) Our resource team consisted of Babychayan, John Wilfred, Jilly and Aneesh(full-timers), Isaac and myself-Annie John. The retreat started on the 1st March, in the evening and ended on the 4th night. Then there was a Disciple Training Programme which started on the 5th March and ended on the 8th morning. There were 44 participants, most of them were tribals from the remote villages. Their families are newly converts so 3 to 4 of the participants had not received Baptism, and the Sacrament of Confession and Communion. 3 to 4 participants were uneducated and a few of them could understand only Marathi. There was a dumb and deaf person and a person with a hunch-back. At the very beginning most of the participants were very introverts but after the retreat in which they had a very good confession and received the gifts of the Holy Spirit each one of them became a new person(a new creation), liberated and Joyful. John, and Isaac who were very sick at the start of the journey itself experienced complete healing inspite of the extreme climatic conditions, dust and smell from the paper mills near to the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, where the programme was being held. Guardian Angels protected all of us throughout, even though there were lot of communal tensions during that time. Fr Tomy Chitinappally, the youth director of Chanda Diocese and the Diocesan sisters had made all arrangements for the programme and for our comfortable stay there. Praise God!
