Dear friends in Jesus
Now the rainy season is slowly disappearing from
Ecuador. But still we cannot go to the villages in our
jeep. As the way is dangerously muddy we still use
horses to travel.
Yesterday we visited a group of families which belong
to one of our villages. As they lived far away from
the village they never came to the chapel when we
celebrated Mass and never we could visit them too.
Yesteray we decided to go there to find out who is
living there. We went to all the houses one after
another. I blessed the houses, prayed for them and
had some conversation with them.None of the houses had
even a small picture of Jesus. I had taken with me
some pictures of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. When I
gave them the picture I asked all of them whether they
knew whose picture was that. To my sadness nobody knew
that the man in the picture was the One who is called
Jesus. He was an unknown God for them. I tried to
explain to them about Jesus and His love for us. They
told me very frankly that they never prayed and never
went to churches and never recieved any sacraments.
Most of them lived inside that jungle, never went out.
They have some cultivations, and they grow pigs or
chickens etc. When I said goodbye in each house they
gave me either some eggs or fruits.I recieved their
humble present with joy.
I came back to my parish church, and tomorrow I am
going again to that village with a group of youth with
an intention to teach them some cetechism.
I am sure, you all will pray for them so that they may
recieve Jesus as their Only Saviour.
God bless you
Fr. Rafi
