"Arise Shine out" All UAE Jesus Youth Conference concludes in Dubai

On December 2nd, the national day of UAE, the Jesus youth held it's national gathering. This years gathering "Arise Shine out" was presided over by Manoj Sunny and Shaji, the so-called firebrand Shaji (Iddukki/theeppori shaji).

The program began with an unusual environmental theatre portraying Exodus, the most remarkable journey of Gods people from slavery to freedom.

The gathering of over 900 people were divided into 12 tribes after their leaders introduced themselves in a most hilarious fashion. They spoke in strange tongues and greeted so uniquely.

Tribes were then scattered. God appears to Moses in the burning bush. He in turn gathers all the tribes and proceeds out of the hall leaving Egypt with shouts of praises to the almighty GOD who stood by them.

Before they entered the Promised Land (back to the hall) they had been through the Parting of the Red Sea, Manna from heaven, 10 commandments and the bull worship episodes in the church compound. It was a rare theatre spectacle with over 900 actors.

The praise and worship that followed coincided with the arrival of Gods people in the Promised Land. The P&W was soul stirring.

The music ministry did a remarkable job lifting the spirit of the crowd. The crowd swung to the tune of the song "Yes Lord Yes Lord Yes, Yes Lord". There was a fabulous array of instruments ranging from flute to tabla to accompany the singers.

Shaji's talk, which came next, challenged the youth to rise up from their slumber and shine out. He cited examples of the young man whom Jesus raised to life, the Samaritan woman and Zacchaeus. He showed how their personalities changed after their encounter with Jesus.

The first audiovisual presentation, which followed, told the story of St. Augustin. The session exhorted the people present to be the saints of the millennium

Priests from Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi concelebrated the Holy mass. A sumptuous lunch followed.

The post lunch session started with another presentation named the "Cry of the word" which showed clips of the oppressed and the down trodden from around the globe. It opened our eyes to the reality of the need to reach out.

Manoj Sunny then spoke on evangelization in response to the Holy Father's call to evangelize Asia in the third millennium. This session was called the "Hope of the word" He pointed out few Asian countries like china, Combodia and told us how the spirit is moving, bringing about the fulfillment of pope's prophetic words about reaping the harvest in Asia in the coming years. He also affirmed that Jesus youth is a missionary movement in service of the church. The session ended with an altar call praying for those inspired to take up new initiatives

The program concluded with a beautiful adoration with the Holy Eucharist exposed. Many experienced a new awakening and a growing vigor to part take in the church's mission to plant the cross in the land were the savior was born

Keep UAE in your prayers
