Could you be a bit more specific why this should be preferred over jQuery UI's drag plugin, apart from your file-size argument? After all, a lot of effort has been spent on the UI components, they are fast, heavily customizable and very stable. Why should I start with a simple drag event and implement everything else from scratch?
