I think I'm ok at developing plugins, but would love if the real
experts would mentor a little bit. So I'll second this e-mail.

I tend to find plugins that I think are designed really well and are
easy to extend, and design my plugins to match their structure. I'd
recommend checking out Jörn Zaefferer's plugins at 
http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/.
