I do agree with 'tres' that we (in essence) should not try to change JS into something which it is not, etc. This is "just" a developers forum for one (the better one :) of the DOM+JS libraries.
PS: if it matters to anyone, I would base jQuery plugins solution, on "Bridge" design pattern.
