[jQuery] setRequestHeader 1.1.4 vs 1.2.1

Anyone have any idea why this code works in 1.1.4 and not in 1.2.1?

The header apparently does not get sent...
(using in a Ruby on Rails app where setting this head RoR responds
with the proper js template)

                        dataType: "script",
