Javascript has the built in property location.hash that will return the value of the anchor along with the # sign.

Hi, I was just wondering if there is anyway to listen for changes on the location bar when a link sets an anchor on the same page. Example: current location: www.something.com/ I click on a link and it takes me to: www.something.com/#someanchor Is there anyway to listen for this change/event with jquery?
